Brentford vs Fulham predictions: Bees to see off poor travellers

Brentford are unbeaten in four at home
– Fulham have lost nine of their 17 away league games
– Recommended bet: Brentford to win

Brentford and Fulham meet in the Premier League on Saturday in a game where there is very little at stake for both sides.

The Cottagers’ hopes of challenging for European football ended some time ago and they are destined for a mid-table finish, while Brentford are no longer in any danger of dropping down to the Championship as they are 10 points clear of the bottom three with just three games left to play.

Team news

Brentford welcome back Neal Maupay as he was ineligible to face Everton in the last round of games.

The Bees will be without Ben Mee, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey and Josh Dasilva, who are all out for the remainder of the season.

Fulham boss Marco Silva could have a fully fit squad available, but midfielder  Harrison Reed is rated as a doubt at this stage.

Tosin Adarabioyo may have played his last game for the Cottagers as he has informed the club he will be leaving when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The stats

Brentford are unbeaten in their last four home games, while Fulham have picked up just 14 points from 17 away games.

Brentford have won three of the last four competitive meetings between these two sides, while the Cottagers have suffered three defeats in their last six matches.

Prediction

It is always difficult to judge how these end of season games with little on the line will play out, particularly with a tournament to come in the summer as players will be eager to avoid any ill-timed injuries, but in this case home advantage may be the difference.

Brentford have managed to put a bit of a run together at their Gtech Community Stadium home since the turn of the year and have only lost two of their last eight games in front of their own fans. Those defeats came at the hands of title challengers Manchester City and Liverpool.

Fulham’s away form has been their downfall all season as just 14 of their 43 points have come on the road. The Cottagers have nine defeats in 17 away games in the Premier League and have won just twice and they may struggle to add to that tally at Brentford.

The Bees won the reverse fixture 3-0 and have generally enjoyed the better of the recent meetings, winning three of the last four games between these two West London rivals.

This season has perhaps been a little disappointing for the hosts, but they can make sure the campaign does not fizzle out now safety has been assured by seeing off Fulham on Saturday.
