– All of Coventry’s last 12 matches have generated at least three goals
– Hull have lost just one of their last eight away matches
– Recommended bet: Hull draw no bet

Coventry gave a fantastic account of themselves in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United but they were left devastated by the penalty shootout defeat and face a tough challenge to lift themselves for a key Championship clash against promotion rivals Hull at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

There remains a possibility of Coventry ending their Championship season in a blaze of glory at the national stadium, but they have a lot of work to do.

Mark Robins’ side are nine points outside of the top six and must focus on winning their final four matches and hope for a slip-up from either fifth-placed West Brom or sixth-placed Norwich.

Hull are three points closer to the play-offs having played one game more and will be looking for a response after Saturday’s 0-0 draw away to Watford.

Team news

Coventry winger Fabio Tavares sustained an ankle injury in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United and had to be taken off in extra-time.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto (back) and Jamie Allen (broken cheekbone) remain sidelined and Robins may be pondering a few changes on Wednesday after seven of his players started and finished Sunday’s draining Wembley encounter.

Hull look set to be without Burnley loanee Anass Zaroury, who has missed the last three matches with a groin strain.

Manchester City loanee Liam Delap has come off the bench in each of the last two matches and is pushing for a place in the starting line up.

The stats

Coventry have won just one of their last five fixtures and have gone eight matches without keeping a clean sheet.

All of Coventry’s last 12 fixtures have generated at least three goals.

Hull have lost only one of their last eight away games.

Five of Hull’s last seven away matches have featured goals for both teams.

Prediction

Hull could have no complaints over Saturday’s disappointing 0-0 draw at mid-table Watford but they can keep their Championship play-off hopes alive by defeating Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry face the busiest finish of any second tier club with four matches to squeeze in between now and next Saturday.

And they are probably carrying a few tired legs and minds after putting such a huge effort into Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final.

Sky Blues’ manager Robins could decide to make a few changes, but a dip in performance seems likely and that could afford Hull an opportunity to grab three precious points.
